What We Collect

To generate your birth chart and astrological readings, we collect:

• Identity information — your name and email address, provided via Google OAuth when you sign in
• Profile picture — from your Google account (used to personalize your experience)
• Birth data — your full birth date, birth time, and birth city/country
• Chat messages — the questions you ask and responses from our AI
• AI-generated memories — insights our AI learns about you from your charts and conversations, to make future readings more personal
• Payment information — if you upgrade, your Stripe customer ID (we never store full card numbers)

Why We Collect It

Everything we collect has a clear purpose:

• Birth data is used to calculate and render your astrological chart
• Your name and email are used to identify your account and send you account-related messages
• Chat messages and memories allow the AI to give you personalized, contextual readings over time
• Payment info enables subscription management via Stripe

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling outside of astrology features, or any purpose beyond what's listed here.

How It's Stored

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Render, a US-based cloud platform. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We use standard security practices, but no system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password for your Google account.

We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with third parties for their marketing or commercial purposes. Full stop.

The only third parties who may process your data are:

• Google — for OAuth authentication (you sign in with Google)
• Stripe — for payment processing (if you subscribe)
• Render — our hosting provider, where data is stored
• OpenAI — your chat messages may be sent to OpenAI's API to generate AI readings

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy and is contractually bound to protect your information.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — things like which pages are popular and how long sessions last. This data is aggregated and anonymized. Google Analytics may set cookies in your browser. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all of your data — including birth charts, chat history, AI memories, and profile information — is permanently deleted from our database. There are no retention periods; deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Your Rights & Controls

You're in control of your data:

• View your data — visit My Data to see AI-generated memories we've stored about you
• Delete individual memories — remove specific insights from the My Data page at any time
• Delete your account — permanently erase your account and all associated data from the My Data page

GDPR rights (EU/EEA residents):

• Right to access — request a copy of your personal data
• Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Right to erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Right to data portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to object — object to certain types of processing

CCPA rights (California residents):

• Right to know — what personal information we collect and how we use it
• Right to delete — request deletion of your personal information
• Right to opt-out of sale — we don't sell your data, so this right is already satisfied
• Right to non-discrimination — we won't treat you differently for exercising your rights

Cookies

We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We also use Google Analytics cookies (see above). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies beyond these.

Children's Privacy

Astrology Insights is intended for users 18 and older (or 13+ with parental consent). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll post an updated version here with a new effective date. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
